Privacy Policy for Timed Math Dash

We collect nothing

Timed Math Dash has no accounts and no sign-in. It shows no ads. It has no analytics and no tracking. The app does not send any information about the player or the device to us or to anyone else, and we run no server for it to send to.

On Android phones and tablets and on Fire tablets, the app does not even ask the device for permission to use the internet. On no device does it ask to use the camera, microphone, location, contacts or photos.

What stays on the device

The app saves the following on the device, in its own private storage, so that progress is still there next time:

• Profiles. Up to six names, of up to 16 characters each, for the people who play on the device. The first one is called "Player 1" until someone renames it. A first name or a nickname is all the app needs.
• For each profile:
  • the best and average correct answers per minute, and the coins earned, for each sign and level;
  • coins, jewels, the backgrounds owned and the one in use;
  • the missed problems, kept for practice;
  • a goal, if one is set, and the date it was set;
  • the last choices made on the home screen (sign, level, range, test length);
  • settings such as Sound, Haptics, Answers (Keypad or Choices) and the color of the piggy bank, and whether the welcome message has been seen.
• For the whole device: the list of profiles and which one is playing.

None of this is sent to us or to anyone else. It is included in the device's own backup (such as iCloud or Google backup), when that is turned on, under the device owner's own account. We never see it.

Children

Timed Math Dash is made for children practicing their math facts, often with a parent or teacher nearby. Because the app collects no personal information, there is nothing for a parent to consent to, review or delete with us.

Things a parent should know:

• Profile names never leave the device. A shared result does not carry one.
• Share and the Privacy link open without a grown-ups question. Share opens the device's own share sheet, and nothing is sent unless the person holding the device chooses where to send it. The Privacy link opens this page.
• There are no ads, no purchases, no chat and no accounts, and the app shows no links to other apps or websites other than the Privacy link.

On Google Play the app is listed for children ages 6 to 8 and 9 to 12. We have not applied for certification from any children's privacy program.

Sharing test results

The Results screen has a Share button. It opens the device's own share sheet (the same one used to share a photo). Nothing is sent unless the person holding the device chooses where to send it, such as Mail or Messages, and sends it.

The shared message holds the results of that one test: the level, sign and length, correct answers per minute, the number correct, accuracy and coins earned, each problem with the answer given and how long it took, and a picture of the Results screen. It does not carry the profile name or anything else about the player.

The message goes only to the people it is sent to. We do not receive it unless you send it to us. To share the picture, the app places it in its own temporary folder on the device, where the next share replaces it.

One check that stays on the device

If Crab Math Run, our other math app, is on the same device, Timed Math Dash gives each profile a free background, the Crab Hero, and says so once. The app never shows a child an ad or a link for Crab Math Run.

On iPhone and iPad, the check is a marker in a storage area shared only between Arbolinea's own apps on that device (an Apple "App Group"). Each time Timed Math Dash opens, it writes the date and time it was opened there, and it looks for the same note from Crab Math Run. On Android and Fire tablets, the app asks the system whether that one app is installed; it is set up so that it can see only Crab Math Run, not the other apps on the device.

The answer never leaves the device and is used for nothing else. Once given, the Crab Hero stays in that profile even if Crab Math Run is removed later.

Sounds and vibration

The app plays its own built-in sounds and, where the device supports it, short vibrations. Both can be turned off in Settings (Sound and Haptics). The app does not record sound.

The Privacy link

The Privacy link at the bottom of Settings opens this page in the device's web browser. The app sends nothing with the link; it only opens the page.

This page is on arbolinea.com, which is hosted by GitHub Pages and uses Google's web fonts. Like any website, GitHub and Google may record visits to it (for example, the visitor's IP address) under their own privacy policies. We do not receive information about who visits.

Crash reports

Apple, Google and Amazon may share anonymous crash reports with us when the device owner has chosen to share them in the device's settings. The app itself sends nothing.

Purchases

Nothing can be bought inside Timed Math Dash. It has no in-app purchases and no subscriptions. Backgrounds are paid for with jewels earned by playing and cannot be bought with money.

Deleting data

Because we hold no data about you or your child, there is nothing for us to delete on our side. Everything is in your hands on the device:

• Clear the practice list: Settings > Missed problems > Reset.
• Start a player's records over: Settings > Records for [name] > Reset. The app asks twice. Bests, averages, coins and the goal are erased; the backgrounds that player owns are kept.
• Remove a player completely: Settings > Profiles > Manage, then hold the player's name and choose Delete. Everything that player has on the device is erased, including backgrounds. The last profile on a device cannot be deleted; reset it or remove the app instead.
• Remove everything: delete the app from the device. This erases all of its saved data. A device backup may still hold a copy until that backup is replaced or deleted, and Android may put the data back if the app is installed again from the same Google account.
• iPhone and iPad shared space: the date Timed Math Dash was last opened, described under "One check that stays on the device", stays in our apps' shared space on the device until every app of ours that uses it has been removed.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new effective date before the version of the app it describes is released. To ask for an earlier version of this policy, email support@arbolinea.com.
